Habits swimming may help control blood pressure in adults. University of Texas researchers concluded, the U.S., after observing the 43 seniors who average 60 years old.
Seniors who have complaints investigated were blood pressure, but overall they are quite healthy condition and stable. During 12 weeks, researchers headed by Hirofumi Tanaka was observed participants who swam up to 3-4 times a week.
The participants were also asked to swim regularly for 45 minutes each time. At the end of the study, blood pressure, the swimmers were blood pressure decreased an average of up to 9 points when compared to when the study began.
According to Tanaka, swimming is the second most popular sport after jogging. Swimming is also the safest sports for people older than jogging and cycling.
"Because not burden the joints, (swimming) friendly to the knee and ankle joints," Tanaka said in a research report published by the American Journal of Cardiology.
